How We Work – Your Path to Veterans Benefits

How We Work – Your Path to Veterans Benefits

Getting the Service Connected Veterans Benefits you deserve should not be a mystery. Here is how we fight alongside you from start to finish, and what you can expect at every stage of your case.

Step 1: Free Consultation

Tell us your story. Your first call with our office costs nothing and creates no obligation. We listen to what happened, ask the questions that matter, and give you an honest assessment of whether you have a claim – and what it might be worth. If we are not the right firm for your matter, we will tell you that directly.

You can reach us by phone, text, or email. Many consultations take thirty minutes or less. For clients who cannot travel, we can handle the entire intake remotely.

Step 2: Case Review

Once you decide to work with us, we dig into your records, medical evidence, service history, employment history, and claim history to build the strongest case possible. This is where experience matters most: we know which evidence wins, which regulations and case law apply, and how to frame your claim for the decisionmaker who will be reviewing it.

  • Obtain and organize VA C-file, Social Security file, or FRS record
  • Gather treating-physician statements and medical opinions
  • Identify missing evidence and develop it before filing
  • Frame the legal theory and benefit sought

Step 3: We Fight For You

We handle filings, hearings, and appeals – keeping you informed every step of the way. Depending on your case, that can mean filing an initial application, submitting a Notice of Disagreement, preparing for a Board of Veterans’ Appeals hearing, cross-examining a vocational expert at a Social Security hearing, or briefing and arguing a federal appeal. You will always know where your case stands.

Step 4: You Get Benefits

When we win, you receive the compensation and benefits you have rightfully earned – including monthly payments, retroactive back pay, and in many cases continuing medical care and dependents’ benefits. We stay with you through the award letter, benefit calculation, and any payment disputes until the full amount you are owed actually reaches you.

How We Are Paid – Contingency Fees

You do not pay an attorney’s fee up front. Most of our work is handled on a contingency basis – our fee is paid only if we win, and only as a percentage of the past-due benefits recovered. In VA and Social Security cases, the fee is set by statute and regulation and must be approved by the agency or the court. If we do not win, you owe no attorney fee.

Communication Standards

  • Phone calls are returned the same business day whenever possible
  • Clients receive copies of significant filings and decisions
  • Major case events (hearings, decisions, deadlines) are discussed with you before they happen
  • Our paralegal and legal assistant are always available to answer status questions
